A Little B&W Flair

It is Friday, and boy, has it been one heck of a week?  My sweet little grandson is in the hospital, after a cough turned to wheezing, and then low oxygen levels. I am hoping he is well enough to go home soon.   Then there is the threat of a new foot of snow.  Yea, yea..... we are all sick of that "S" word!

Okay, on with this weeks Friends with Flair card.  I am using the February, 2014 KOM, from Unity.  I found this great chevron paper from Pebbles.  It has a cast of rosy red/pink on the edges.   My image and sentiment were inked and stamped with Versafine Onyx Black.  I cut out that awesome quilt image and popped it up with Scotch mounting tape, as well as the sentiment.  I gave it a pop of color with some rosy pearls.

I am also going to enter this over at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge, where the theme is "Anything Goes With Pearls".

What ever you do this weekend, make the best of it!  Me, I will be one of those loonies out  there pack ratting bread and milk!  Thanks for the visit.

Hurry Spring!

I found a stamp set which I forgot about, while I was rooting around, the other day.  Since this weather is not going to give us a break, anytime soon, I decided to dream about it, and create things that will over rule the snow that is falling.

The stamp set is called "Turtle Crossing" and is by Tricia Santry Studio, for Fiskars.  These are all individual clear stamps that I put together to create this little scene.  The paper is from DCWV and their Violet Leaf pad.  Coloring is with Copic markers, and sponging is with SU! inks.  I found this floral lacy/ribbon hanging on my wall.  Of course, I used the Spellbinder Scalloped Oval to cut out my scene.  I added gold Stickles, Glossy Accents, and a single Dew Drop.

I would like to enter this at the Mod Squad Challenge to create a Spring card.  I would also like to send this over to Pixie Snippet's Playground, since I used some unloved bits.

I hope you think my little turtle is cute.  I am pleased with the way his shell came out.  Thanks for stopping by.  Sending you Springtime thoughts.

Happy Friday!

Today I would like to share  a monochromatic Easter card I created.  It was made with the February Kit of the Month from Unity, called "Grow into Spring".  I guess that is what we are slowly doing, after this crazy winter nonsense.

List of supplies:

Lots of blue scraps of  designer papers
Embossing folder by Darcie's
Fanciful Flourish die from Cheery Lynn
Pacific Point ink from SU!
Scallop punch from SU!
Blue pearls from Queen & Co.
Stamps by Unity

I would like to link this up on the blog page for this weeks Friends with Flair.

There is also a new challenge I found, called Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge #2, which is a color challenge, this time.  There is a twist to show what you hoard the most of, so here goes:

My name is Mary Anne, and I am a paper hoarder.  But just look, I used them, didn't I?  Have a great weekend!

I Forgot to Post These

Morning, everyone!  Sometimes I just keep creating, and forget to post what I make.  Today I would like to share with you the cards I made for a very special Christening.  My grandson, Brian had his very special day, as well as his twin cousins, Ella and Grace.  It was a wonderful day for all of our families.

Anyway I wanted to make a special card for Brian, so that his mommy could tuck it away.  Well I was sure coming up blank, until I found these studded crosses  on clearance at Michael's!  You can see some of the supplies I used in the photo.  My sentiments are computer generated.  I used the Heartfelt Creations/Spellbinders die called Decorative Window Scene, as well as the Fanciful Flourishes die from Cheery Lynn.  I was pleased with the result.

Well, the girls needed cards also, and I was so glad I bought a few more of the crosses.  This time I changed it up a bit and used the Decorative Oval Window from Heartfelt/ Spellbinders.  Sine the girls are never dressed the same I did different colors.  There are tiny paper flowers and pearls on these.

Okay, that is it for me.  I might actually get to work a decent time today.  It is not raining, snowing or foggy, and yes, there is sunshine!

Let's get Krafty

Over on the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog, everything is coming up Kraft.  They are also showcasing Memory Box products, so I used my "a little thanks" and "blooming violet" dies from MB.  I found this great distressed, designer paper in my stash, and bits of card stock.  Some of the blossoms I cut twice, and stacked to add some dimension.  Everything was assembled with a Quickie Glue Pen, and pearls are my embellishments.

Card #2 was made because I found this huge stamp hidden in a bin.  It is from Stamps Happen, and is called Le Chanticleer.  Anyone that knows me well, knows I am a sucker for roosters.  I have had this stamp for years, and never knew how to use it.  I stamped over a scrap of designer paper, with Memento Rich Cocoa ink, and then colored the rooster with Copic markers.  I mounted the layer on deep brown card, and then added my embellishments.  They are mesh ribbon, burlap, twine, paper roses, and a small paper tag.  I found a small acrylic stamp for the sentiment, which is joy, because that is what this card brought me!  Di, over at Pixie Snippet's Playground, says she does not mind back linking of a few hours, so I am glad to see I can enter this card over there!

I would also like to enter this card at Crafty Hazelnut's Patterned Paper February Challenge.  I just found this monthly challenge, and it seems as if it will be one I enjoy.  I am such a paper hoarder!

What can I say, except that it is snowing yet again, today!  My kids and grandson were suppose to visit for the first time since Christmas, but we have had to put it off.  Oh well, I would rather they  be safe.  He will just grow a wee bit more until I get to cuddle him!  Thanks for the visit, and enjoy the rest of your weekend.

A Few Challenges

Hi everyone!  Happy Valentine's Day! You can be sure, I am also thinking Spring!  I have a couple of cards I would like to share with you today, that I worked on during the latest blast of snow.

My first card is for the Friends with Flair linky, which happens every Friday.  It is the perfect way for me to use my latest Kits of the Month.  The flowers and sentiment are from the February kit.  I used a new Spellbinders die to create the cut out background.  It is called Nobel Rectangle.  My papers are scraps from K&Co. I used a Viva Décor pearl pen to give the flower centers some texture.

I would also like to enter this card over at the Mod Squad Challenge, as their theme for this week is to use flowers.

One of my commenters {thank you} reminded me of a new challenge which can be found here.  It is the Butterfly Challenge, and the first one is "Butterflies and Flowers".  Here you go, Mrs. A..

Card two, is also made from the Unity KOM, and features one of my favorite stamps in the kit.  This pretty tree with it's delicate leaves, will be used over and over.  I used up more scraps, created a sky background, and torn grassy knoll.  My sun was made from a 1" circle punch and a sun spiral punch, I forgot I owned.  I used markers to color the tree.  I even used a little wire clip that was a gifty in my KOM package.  This card will also be for Friends with Flair, and I would also like to add it over at Pixie Snippets Playground, since I used up some bits that have been lying around.

Thanks ever so much for paying me a visit.  See that, I didn't even dwell on all the snow storms!

Been Without Power

This first photo, shows the transformer that blew on Wed. morning at 5 a.m.  That is when all the fun began.  I knew we were in trouble when the sky turned total green!

These next photos are showing some of the ice damage.  The neighbor directly across from us lost 100 x more than we did.   My poor white dogwood.  :(

This is how we ate our first dinner.....Weenies in the fireplace!  That was a bright spot!  Glad it's over, and the promise of 2 more storms this week, is getting boring.  Hope to post some new cards soon.

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Use String or Twine

Happy Saturday, everyone.  Here is a card I created for the Simon Says Stamp, Wednesday Challenge.  This week, we are asked to use string or twine.

My image was found on my desk.  I am not sure of the designer, and it could have been a gift from a friend.  The designer paper is from Pebbles Family Ties Collection.  Coloring is with Copics, and sponging is with SU! Summer Sun.  The punched hearts are embossed with my Dotted Swiss ef.   For the embellishment, I created a bow using paper twist, twine from American Craft, and a Prima flower.

Check out all of the great cards that have been loaded for your inspiration!  There is still time to play along!
