Here I Am Again!

It's Friday, and it is time to share a Unity project for the Friends with Flair part of the week.  Again, I went to my March KOM, called "From Head to Soul", to beg for a little inspiration.  Yep, there it was!  A sweet sentiment that was tucked in the middle of all of the stamps.  It called to me and I created this card with scraps that were laying on my desk.

White card stock, a gorgeous piece of designer paper, (don't you just love that watercolor bird and newsprint nest?),  Chipboard pieces from K&Co, pieces of bling I had cut up, and a small scrap of dp for corner punches.  That's it, it all fell into place.

Please be sure to head over to the Unity Blog and visit all of the amazing people who have linked up today.  All  I can say is, TGIF!

Unity KOM Sketch Challenge, Second Entry

That's right, I made two this month.  I had extra time to play today, so why not ink up stamps that were being neglected?  I again used stamps from the Head to Soul KOM.  The balloons were just screaming to be paper pieced, so I went for it.  Here is the sketch.

I started with an extra half of Bazzil card stock.  It was one I had picked up for St Pat's day.  There is a texture and a pearl type finish.  A layer of white card was next, followed by a scrap of BG Picadilly. Each was attacked with the 1/2" corner rounder.  More scraps of Picadilly and Indie Bloom were used for the balloons.  I gave them strings of hemp twine and a bakers twine bow.  My 1/4 " punch made the little brad type circles, and I added the birthday sentiment from the same kit.

Just a simple creation, but sometimes I like simple best. Be sure to visit the Unity KOM Sketch Challenge Blog, to see all of the lovely creations! Thanks for stopping by!

House Mouse Monday Challenge #116 Let's Have A Party!

I recently acquired my very first Happy Hopper stamp, just in time to participate in the Let's Have A Party challenge over at House Mouse Monday.  This little bunnies are just adorable!  I stamped and used only one of the little Hoppers, as I wanted to do a shape card.  The stamp is called Party Hoppers (2007)  HMOR1121.  The sentiment is from Stampa Rosa 111773, Where's The Party?.

My shapes are Spellbinders Eyelet Circles, and Blossom Three dies.  I used a textured white card stock from my stash and the designer papers are Basic Grey Picadilly.  I think that is my new favorite from BG.  Image is colored with Copics and a Sakura Stardust pen was used on the bunnies party hat (not showing up).  Other stamping was done with Memento inks.  Ribbon and bling were added as embellishments.

Today is the day that hubby sees the specialist.  Keep a good thought going for him today.  Maybe there will be some answers soon.  Enjoy your Thursday!

March Rose's Challenge

Happy Sunday morning!  It is that time of the month when our Bouquet of Rose's share a project with all of you. This morning I want to share a card that I made for one of our missing Roses.  Connie Rose was in charge of this months challenge and since she has been off exploring different avenues, Kerrie Rose stepped in asked us to create a card to send to Connie to show her how much we miss her.

My card base is made from Pure Luxury card stock called Little Boy Blue.  My designer paper is Basic Grey, Pyrus, which has had it's edges distressed.  I found this gorgeous vintage girl at Far Far Hills, cut her out with a Nestabilities die, and sponged the edges.  Tiny brads and crochet flowers were added to the edge.  Thought it was the perfect time to add some of my Recollections gem swirls.

Connie, we all know that life happens, and we hope that whatever you are up to, is enjoyable!  Miss you!

Have a wonderful end to your weekend.  I hope to catch up on some commenting, so you might see me lurking about.  Please be sure to visit our other Rose's, which are listed on my sidebar.

It's Friday, So It Must Be Flair Time!

Hi everyone!  Hope all is well in your little part of the world.  It has been 80 degrees in PA, the last couple days.  This is March, right?  Anyhow, today is Friday, and it is time to share a Unity project with you.  Please bop over and see what everyone on the Friends with Flair has up for your weekly inspiration.

My card images are from the March 2012 KOM, called head to soul.  I decided to ink up one of the larger images from the kit, which is this adorable banner.  I inked it with Rich Cocoa Memento and stamped onto a linen type card stock I found in my stash.  Now, I had to decide on coloring it.  My poor old colored pencils have not seen paper in a long time, so I got out the blending stumps and OMS.  That gave me the soft look I was going for.

The base is an oak tag, and I embossed some Soft Suede card with a TH Texture Fade in wood grain.  Then I got out the liquid Picket Fence Distress Stain, and gave it a bit of a white wash.  It was cut in strips and added to the background.  The rest is gems, pearls, flowers, leaf punches, and a dab of Stickles.  My sentiment is from the kit also and in popped on graduating circles.  I wanted to keep this on hand for a graduation, promotion, weight loss, etc.

     Have a wonderful weekend, friends!

Quick Little Update....

Thanks for all of the thoughts, prayers, and kind words, blogger friends!  Sorry I did not get back sooner.  After hours and hours in the ER the other day, DH was sent home, yet again.  He has been resting here for the last couple days.  The family Dr. is just flipping furious.  He has been our Dr. for 37 years, and when he called the house on Wednesday night at 9:30 p.m. to check on DH, he let it be known.  These insurance companies tie the Dr.'s hands.  He still thinks that DH will need surgery, and now that things have calmed a bit, we are hoping it can be postponed until after our sons wedding in April.  If not, then let God take it into his hands. I have not gone into details, as it is just not good blog talk.  I will just say we are trying to avoid a ruptured bowel.  Get the picture?

Thanks again, and I hope to create a few things soon.  Maybe even today!

House Mouse Monday Challenge #115

Well here we are, half way through the House Mouse Monday challenge period, and I am finally getting a chance to put up my post.  Challenge #115 is an inspirational photo challenge that is issued by design team member Lorraine.  Here is what she came up with.

When I saw the photo, I knew I was in trouble.  Not a mousey cupcake stamp in the house!  I took a ride up to my favorite stamp store in Ephrata, PA, cause I just knew that if there was a stamp to be had, this was my best shot.  After checking every mouse in the house, this stamp was the closest I could get.  It is called Heart Breaker.  Even the store owner was shocked she did not have one.

The wrapper from the chocolate heart looked perfect for paper piecing, so I went with it.  I added some tiny cupcakes from an IO set I had, gave my mouse a bakers twine hair bow, put on some bling. and called it done!

Coloring was done with Copic Markers, sponging is with VersMagic ink, and my image was cut out with Spellbinders, Labels Twenty-Two.

I want to thank everyone for all the well wishes sent for my DH.  Right now we are at a no better, no worse stage, with a DR that is on vacation.  Besides the early moring fog that we have been experiencing, the weather has been glorious!  Hope you are enjoying the same.

UPDATE:  Just got a call that the Dr. wants the DH admitted to the hospital.  What a difference a few minutes can make, huh?  Please keep him in your prayers.

Craft A Scene Challenge #3 Moonlight

There is nothing more soothing than standing outside and being bathed in moonlight.  This month, the challenge at Craft A Scene, is to create a project showing moonlight.

I started with a forest green base and added a wood grain embossed frame that I cut out of soft brown, using a Label Twenty Three, Nestabitities die.  I used different shades of VersaMagic inks to sponge a background for my scene.  The moon is a 1" circle that was sponged around.  The stamps used are as follows:

Stampscapes Lakeside Cabin-147F
Stampscapes Rocks & Reeds- 071E
PSX D-580  Raccoon

All of my images were colored with Copic Markers.  I decided we needed to add a critter playing in the water, so Mr. Raccoon was popped to the front.  There are Stickles on the waterline and ripples, but of course I can not get a good shot this morning.  Around the edges of my frame, I tried to give it a little more rustic feel by adding jute twine and copper brads.

I am sure I will use this for one of the outdoors men in our family.  It is fun to combine stamps and bring your stamping to life.  Please be sure to stop over at Craft A Scene, to check out all of the amazing work by the design team, and the entries so far are gorgeous!  Have a wonderful Sunday.

Friday Friends with Flair

So far the week has been quite hectic, with not a lot of stamping time.  Here is a card that I created using the new Head to Soul, Kit of the Month, from Unity.  Be sure to visit the Unity Blog for some wonderful inspiration.  These designers are quite amazing!

My card is very simple, but I just love the colors.  I used the rose and sentiment from the kit.  The roses were colored with Copic Markers ( V20, V25, and BG15).  My card stock is in layers of white, black and lavender, with a square of a digi paper that was hiding on my computer.  The roses were fussy cut and popped for dimension, and diamond Stickles were lightly applied to the edges of the petals.

That is it for me today.  My DH has been under the weather and we are praying for a return to a normal schedule.  Have a marvelous weekend, full of all the things you like to do.

March KOM Sketch Challenge at Unity

I am such a lucky duck!  My March Unity kit arrived on Friday and I have been able to commence playing! First thing, I wanted to make sure to create something for the KOM Sketch Challenge.  Now mind you, you do not have to use the newest kit.  Any KOM will work.  I just wanted to try and showcase the newest one. Here is the sketch we are to follow.

So, I guess you might want to see what I came up with, huh?  I a going to be in need of a few graduation cards this upcoming season, so I got a jump on them by creating this.  I used a selection of card stocks I had bought at a show, Stamped my images with Versafine ink, and colored with Copics.  Mat, mat, mat, snip, snip, snip, a few dimensionals and opaque black gems, and my card is complete!

Hope you are having a marvelous weekend.  My DH is on vacation until Tuesday and we are working on our bathroom remodeling job.  Have you ever had to paint a room 2x cause the color you thought you liked was horrible on the walls?  Don't ask!  Just a little setback, but a bit of an expensive lesson.  Who ever thought that a robin's egg blue could look florescent?

Sugar and Spice

I am sure you know by now that I love doing the House Mouse Challenges.  Since they are on for two weeks, I really don't have any excuse.  Well the challenge this time is called Sugar and Spice, and Everything Nice.  Let me tell you, I went over and over my selection of stamps and almost gave up.  I looked one more time and realized that I had a new stamp hiding on the corner of my table!  I just altered it a wee bit to fit my needs.

The stamp I used is called Balanced Diet.  I created little labels for the bottles to say Sugar and Spice.  My designer paper is from the My Minds Eye, Vanity Fair collection.  The image was stamped with Versafine onyx black and embossed with clear detail powder.  It was then cut and layered with classic oval Nestabilities.  After coloring with Copic Markers, There is Crystal Lacquer on the bottles and they are sprinkled with a fine, fine glitter.  I added a pink crinkled ribbon and bow, with a Prima rose to embellish.

My inside sentiment will read You Are So Nice!  I kept it simple.  It always makes me feel so good to finish a project that I wanted to give up on.

I hope that wherever you are, that the weather is as pleasant for you as it is here in PA.  We expect our first dose of 70 degree weather tomorrow!

Always and Forever

Last week, I was the happy winner at Joan's Gardens for the weekly challenge.  Woo Hoo!  I wanted to make sure I got back there to play again this week. For their Challenge #8, here are the requirements:

Create a card with the colors blue and green.
Include an oval background.
Include flowers.
Use a corner feature.

Sound like fun?  Join in!

I was in need of a wedding card for an up coming union, so I concentrated on getting that completed.
My focal stamp is from the Unity KOM of February.  While shopping yesterday at AC Moore, I found this awesome card stock from Worldwin Papers, in the color Ocean.  It has a texture to it and was wonderful to work with!  I used it for my base and just started building.  Here is what was used:

Sizzix Sizzlet for my corner
Spellbinders in a scalloped oval and Labels ten
Copic Markers
Swiss dot ribbon in lime
Cheery Lynn Designs die called Fanciful Flourish
Prima Flowers
Pearls
Sakura Stardust pen on my A
Inks are Gathered Twigs Distress Ink, and VersaMagic in Turquoise Gen
Inside sentiments are from SU! set called Congrats!

Well, I think that covers it all.  Have a fantastic Monday, and maybe I will see you later on.  Right now I must head to work for a few hours.

Friends With Flair

Just wanted to sneak on by and add a Friends with Flair post to the Unity Blog.  I used my February KOM and made up a masculine card.  You must get over to the blog and see all the great work that has been added to the link for your inspiration!  Amazing!

My card stocks are SU!, my designer paper is scraps, the inks are Gathered Twigs Distress Ink, and I added brads in gold, copper, and silver, to give the card an edge.  The cards were fussy cut and popped up.

That is is for me today.  So glad I didn't miss joining in on the fun!  have an awesome weekend!

Oh, and BTW, the new March KOM is totally amazing!  Can't wait to get mine so I can play!!!  Be sure to check it out.
