Donut Be Sad, I Am Back!

LoL, did you miss me?  I just had to do a second post for Friends with Flair.  My pile of cards is growing, and I need to share.  This is a wonderfully punny stamp from Unity, called "Donut Be Sad".  This card also uses papers from the American Craft, Soho Garden collection.  I stamped the donut stamp 3x and colored them in different flavors, glazed the icing with Crystal Effects, and did sugar on the one.

Thanks for stopping by again today.  If you would like to see the first post of today, please click here.

And It's Friday Fun Time, Once More!

I really do look forward to my Friends with Flair Friday posts.  It gives me great joy to post the results of my quiet moments during the week.  Here is a Unity stamp that I bought a month or so ago, during one of the great sales.  I thought it would be good to have on hand, as my daughter's friends are all in the delivery game right now.  This stamp is called "Any day now, baby!".

I used lots of American Craft, Soho Garden scraps.  You know that little strip of contrasting color that you find on the edge of single sheets of paper.  I just love how this mom to be came out.  I may just have to make a few more of these.  For embellishments, I used an American Craft paper flower with gem center, and some Queen &Co Rox, for a bit of sparkle.

Also, I'd like to enter this card over at Pixie's Snippets Playground, since I was a good girl and used up my bits.

This weekend is my dear GS's 1st birthday!  Although his other grand-pop had to have emergency surgery yesterday, we are going to pull it all together and proceed with the party.  The surgery will allow him to be around for many more of Brian's birthdays.  Speedy recovery,  Bill!  Since I will be a little tied up, I may not get to leave my comments until later in the weekend.  Have a great one!

3 Fun Cards for Flair

It's another crazy week in PA!  Last evening we experienced 12 storms on radar at once, all producing damaging hail.  The one shopping mall in Reading, PA had hail inside the mall.  It broke out all of the sky lights!  Cars look like they had hammers taken to them, and many had to sit on the sides of the road because the windshields broke right out! It was all around us, but we were very lucky.  We were not as lucky 18 yrs. ago, when a similar storm destroyed our cars, siding, windows, patio furniture, etc....  I can feel for the people suffering loss.  Funny thing, that too was Memorial weekend!

On to my cards for Unity's Friends with Flair.  This week I was just totally playing, and I hope you will enjoy what I made.

Card one uses The May 2014 KOM.  I was playing with my new watercolors to create the background.  The heart was glazed and glittered, which came out looking like cracked glass.  I have been using lots of wrinkled ribbon, as I had such a blast making it.  Prima flowers and scraps of card stock, finish this one off.

Card two is also from the May 2014 KOM, and was created on white card stock using Memento markers direct to stamps.  I added a few mini Prima's, some raspberry gems, and used the Stardust pen for some extra sparkle.

My third, and last card, has been sitting here waiting for it's turn to be posted.  I used one of the Unity, Punny stamps that I picked up during a sale.  This made a great, simple birthday card for one of my girlfriends.  I used some bubble gum card stock, a scrap of designer paper that has summery words, some strips of Washi tape, and some vellum flowers and pearls.

That is it for me today.   Please have a wonderful, safe holiday weekend!

Another Unity Creation

I saw a video from Jennifer McGuire on this technique.  If I find it again, I will link it here.  I thought it looked super, so I wanted to give it a try.

Here is what I used:

Hero Hues Unicorn white ink
Colored pencils
DP from Little Yellow Bicycle, Vintage Summer pk.
Stamps from the May and April (sentiment) KOM from Unity
Stickles
Pearls

The Unicorn ink is a pigment ink, so it will take a little longer to dry.  Once that happens, color with colored pencils.  I decided to paper piece the centers of my butterfly wings, and edge them with Diamond Stickles.  I added pearls as accents.

I believe I will enter this in the "Be Inspired Challenge", over on the Unity blog.  This will cover the color portion of the challenge.

Who would have ever thought that the temps would have gotten down into the low 40's, this late in May!!!  Had to turn on the heat pump last night.  Still have not gotten the garden planted, and maybe it's a good thing!  Have a wonderful beginning to your week.

A Little Late....

Happy Friday afternoon, my friends.  I was ready to go with this card, early this morning, but it seems the Linky over at Unity had expired.  Check out all of the work that is being loaded for Friends with Flair, this week!

This card uses the May Kit of the Month called "Hey Girl".  If you have not seen the gorgeous stamps in this kit, you must do so!

My card is done on white with white embossing.  I sponged on all of the assorted colors.  I also used a stencil to fill in some background, and that is from the Crafters Workshop chicken wire reversed .  There are a few Dewdrops added as accents.  My inks are from SU!

This second card also uses the KOM of May 2014, and a sentiment from one of the grab bags from Unity.  I just love this big birthday cake stamp!  The card uses an embossed background, paper doily, and assorted punches that help use up scraps from my bin.  There are touches of Stardust pen for some sparkle, but it is not showing well.

I would like to enter this card over at Pixie's Snippets Playground. This week is #124

I hope you have a fabulous weekend, and I appreciate you stopping by.

Friends with Flair....Yep, it's Friday!

However did it get to be the weekend again?  This weeks offering, come from my April KOM from Unity. Don't forget to check out all of the great work on the Friends with Flair post!  I also noticed that most of the recent Unity posts include some sort of water coloring.  Well here is my stab at that.

Here is what I used:

Soft Sand and White card
Designer paper
Wrinkle ribbon which I made :)
Stazon Saddle Brown ink
Derwent water color pencils
water brush
antique button to match the leaves on the stalks

I have a sneaky feeling I will be enjoying more water coloring, very soon.  Have a fantastic weekend!

I Found a New Challenge!

Morning, everyone.  I am so glad you enjoyed my little play with the paper, yesterday!  This morning, I found a challenge blog that is new to me.  It is called The Corrosive Challenge Blog.  This week, the challenge is # 198 "Head Gear".  Anything that you wear on the head, such as hats, bows, flowers, etc.

I just so happen to have created a card that fits the bill.  This card was made as a birthday card for my son-in-law.

Here is what I used.

Kraft and white card stock
Memento inks
Circle punches
A hippo stamp that I bought unmounted in the "90's"
My sentiment is an unknown
Classic Hats set by Inkadinkado
Brads
Washi tape

I also found another new challenge, thanks to my friend Theresa P.,  It is the Oldie but a Goodie Challenge, and they are also doing hats.

I want to thank you for stopping to take a look, and hope you have a wonderful day!

I Challenged Myself

Happy Monday!  Call me crazy, but I decided to give myself a challenge.  A couple weeks ago I saw this designer paper at Tuesday Mornings.  It was a whole pack for .99.  I am not sure why, but I seem to be drawn to paper that is different strips.  Here is what one sheet looks like.......

I see by the label on the pkg. that it is called Something Sweet, but I do not know the designer.

Sooo, my challenge was to see what I could make out of it.  Here are the results......

I only added a few little goodies, and this is what I came up with!

(great, now Blogger wants to center the rest of my post)

I would like to enter this over at Pixie's Snippets Playground, as I do believe I used all the snippets that I could!

The other bits that were added, are Washi tape, Stickles, punches, pearls, candy dots, dimensional tape, and a gemstone butterfly.

My friend and I were just saying how each of us sees  paper in a different way, and that this paper would have her stumped.  I saw it as multiple projects.

Thanks for stopping by!

Sorry I Have Been Missing.

On Easter, we visited my DD and family for a fantastic meal.  I decided to spend the week, and just returned home this past Sunday.  I just shared these cute photos over on FB, but I think they are worth sharing twice.

Brian is such a cutie!  Although it has been 30 years since I woke to the sound of a crying baby, it was fun to sneak in and get those great big morning smiles.  I was able to teach him "So Big", and how to click his tongue like a trotting horse.  He also started with some not so well liked phases, like not wanting his bedtime bottle and throwing little hissy fits when things are not to his liking.  I am sure these will pass quickly.  He is a very pleasant little boy.

I hope to get back into regular posting by this weekend.  I just didn't want you all to think I dropped off the face of the earth!

Please be sure to click on the orange ribbon on my sidebar for an updated address for mailing to little Lauryn.  There have been some positive updates, and she and her family are currently in a Ronald McDonald House, close to the hospital.  Keep praying, please!
