JUGS #39 Template Challenge

I cruised by the Just Us Girls blog, and saw the newest challenge #39 was a template challenge. Oh is this cute! Had to use the pattern they supplied and make a BBQ apron. Here is what I came up with.
The papers I have had for ages. No markings on them so just have no clue (8 1/2 x 11). I used some tools that were on a sheet from Cathy Heck Scrapbook Studio. My ties are black organza ribbons and I added little white Prima's with black opaque gems for centers. I thought that adding black eyelets, gave it a finished look. My sentiment is from Rubber Soul.
I did not use the little slit on the front, but I am going to make this an invite for friends to join us to cook out. My inside words are from Azadi Earlos, Inc.

Thanks for such a fun challenge, JUGS Team! See you soon!

B is for Baby and Bear

I decided to try and do a card for many challenges. I think it is lots of work! Phew! You paper crafters that do this all the time, I bow down to you. Here is what I made.
It is a baby card that is paper pieced. I used the Oh Baby stamp set from Gina K. Designs. there are Dp's from Basic Grey and Memory Box. My flowers are olive Sateen Flowers with tiny blue Prima's and pearl centers. I used stick on pearls and a vintage button for an embellishment. I roughed up my edges and even broke out an old school pair of decorative edge scissors. My ribbon is from Really Reasonable Ribbon. My ink colors are Baja Breeze, Old Olive, and River Rock. Copic colors are #'s B00, YG03, YG11.

The challenges I am entering it in are:

STV color Challenge: blue and green with a neutral

Just Cute Bears: As long as there is a bear

Thanks for looking and I hope to be back soon! Preparing for storms that are going to cool us down! Woo Hoo!

Cute As A Button

This is my second time typing this post, so I guess I won't be as windy, LOL! I love when they just disappear. I created this card for 2 challenges. The first is the Blast From The Past challenge, hosted by Linda Payne. That is over at Stamp TV. We are to use a button and bow embellishment with a twist of a fancy button. Next is the inspiration challenge #13, over at Kim Wilson's blog called Off The Wall Craftiness. I love her challenges! Here is my card........

Here is Kim's inspiration piece. Look at all that yummy pink and turquoise!

My papers are an assortment from Basic Grey. The stamps I used are from Rupa Shevde's set called Oh Baby, and is from Gina K. Designs. For embellishments I used pink gems, a crown brad, chipboard, and a swag I made with diamond punches folded in half over hemp and glued. I used ribbon and ric-rac for my bow and stitched my little girl button on. This was fun!!!

I am playing and keeping cool, so you may just see me again.

Creative Belli Challenge #94 sketch

Morning everyone! Just wanted to put up a quick post with a card I made the other day. While I was scanning down the list at Daily Dare, I came across this site called Creative Belli Blog Challenges. They do a bi-weekly challenge and I figured I would give it a try. Check it out if you get a chance. I believe the new ones get posted on Wednesdays. Most of the papers are from my stash and the firecracker stamp is from Ken Brown Stamps. I always feel real good when I get to use a stamp I have had for ages. I used the Threading Water border punch from Fiskars and some red grosgrain ribbon to form my bottom edge. I added some Stickles and silver stars to the dp background for sparkle. I also did a bit of distressing around my edges with Colorbox, Lipstick Red. My images were colored with OMS and pencils.

I hope you have a wonderful Sunday! I may be back with more posts as the day perks on. I'm going to try and lay real low, outta hubby's hair, for the first couple days of his vacation, then I will start buttering up for trips to stamp stores. Time for my second cup of joe........

Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger..... Tropical Halter

Good evening everyone! Been a crazy weekend here and not too many of my challenges I wanted to do, got finished. Oh well, there is always next week. I just had to squeeze in the Moxie Fab World, Tuesday Trigger before it was too late. Here is our inspiration.
I layered Rocket Red and Onxy Black Pure Luxury card stock pieces on a white base. I used a tropical red and white floral dp from my scraps. The leaf pattern and the sentiment are from Mark's Finest Papers set called Tropical Vacation. The flowers are from Asela Hopkins set called By Your Side and is available through Gina K. Designs. My only accents were 3 golden pearls and a touch of Stickles to my flower centers. My DD and SIL-to-be were home for a short visit this weekend to check out wedding venues. I didn't realize that this would be so darn stressful. It is enhanced by the fact that she is 2 hours away. They will be back in 2 weeks for round two the search. My DS is on his first cruise and is right in the path of the first Tropical Storm of the season. The DH has officially started a 10 day vacation, and boy does he need it! Sorry I have been missing so much on all of your blogs but I will try and play catch up in the next couple days. Thanks for stopping around.

Speedy The Cat's Friend's Challenge #8

This week, over at the Mark's Finest Paper Blog, the challenge is to emboss. Woo Hoo, that is right up my alley!
I created this card using something my DD and I found while cleaning out craft drawers last night. The border and inside panel were both made by her, years ago for a scrapbook page. We left it out and both said it need to be used. Enter, the STFC and I worked the color scheme around our find. The border was a 12" but I was able to cut it to work. I used Mark's Finest set called Cupcake Birthday, which I won doing a hop here. The embossing is a new Tim Holtz, Fade called Regal Flourishes. I used Grass Green and Pure White, Pure Luxury cardstocks. The small strip of dp is an unknown. I colored my image with Copics #'s E55, R37, R39, RV10, Y17, YG06, YR02. I did some soft sponging with Colorbox ink around my sentiment. My accents are clear gems and some clear lacquer on the cherry. The inside panel has the addition of two rows of red line tape and micro beads.

To all the fathers out there, I want to wish you a very special day full of whatever floats your boat! Here, we are just grillin' and chillin'. See you again real soon!

Favorite Summer Memories for GKD

This post may get a wee bit lengthy, so please bare with me. Over at Gina K. Designs Blog, Gina has challenged us to create one of our favorite summer memories, using Gina K. stamps. When I saw this challenge, so many things went through my head. There are many people in my life that I have cherished and lost. Two such people were my Aunt Cass and Uncle Gordon. They never had any children, so when I got to spend one on one time with them, during Summer break, they spoiled me rotten. Uncle Gordon was a wildlife photographer and one of those people that folks adored. They would take me on shoots and taught me many things about nature.
My card and little desk photo were inspired by these amazing people and Gina's new Botanicals set. Yes, that is me as a little girl with my Aunt. The reason for the photo is that these were the largest Queen Ann's Lace that my Uncle had ever seen. You might say Summer? Yes back then, my Mom made me wear that light weight jacket whenever I went with them to keep off the insects and brambles, Lol! Heck, my Uncle took my Aunt to a Florida swamp for their honeymoon! The card is a CAS design, made from Pure Luxury Kraft card stock. I stamped the background script and sentiment in Creamy Caramel from SU. My Queen Ann's Lace was embossed with white detail ep. I added adhesive paper lace from K&Co and cocoa pearls as my accents. The desk photo is just a take off of the card. Thanks for stopping by!

OTWC Challenge #11

My week just never feels complete, unless I get over to Kim Wilson's blog, and try her newest challenge! She comes up with the best inspiration pieces for us to play from. Her blog is Off The Wall Craftiness, and you must check it out.
I used a white A2 base, and added designer papers from Memory Box's, Sweetbay collection. My stamps are from Unity and their store kit for the month of May. I kept it very simple and used shiny blue ribbon which I pleated, piercing around my heart, and pearls for flower centers.

I hope you like what I came up with. Have a wonderful Tuesday, and I may just be back with another card later. With all the scattered storms, you just never know. Hugs!

Go, Go Granny!

This week, the color challenge over at Stamp TV, is to use pink, green, and orange. Now that is what I call fun! Here is what I came up with.
I just love the granny driving a bug that is in one of the older sets from Gina K. Designs, called "You Know You're Old When". I stared at her for a long time and decided to give her some pink hair instead of blue. (I actually had a lady come to donate at work the other day that had hair this pink) The other Copic colors I used are these.... B02, C1, C3, C7, E00, RV10, RV11, Y13, Y17, Y38, and YG17. My background is a textured pink card stock, that has been run through the Cuttlebug with the new Tim Holtz Fade called Bingo. I rubbed it with a Colorbox white ink pad to bring out the embossing. I punched out bingo chips from the new Grass Green, Pure Luxury card stock from Gina K.. My accents are orange gems and ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon, from the June club assortment.

Today I am simply exhausted. Yesterday was my DD and future SIL's open house for their new home. A good time was had by all, but after cooking all day Friday, and smiling and helping all day yesterday, not to mention a drive that is 2 hours both ways, I need me a sit down day! I may be back later with more cards.

A New Hang Out

The other day, I joined a new site called Crafter's Digital Art Center. I received an invite from my Stamp TV friend, Linda Payne. She make the most amazing card using both stamps and digi images. She can be found at Payne Holler Cards. Please pay her a visit. I think this is just what I needed to get me motivated, to sort my images by designer. I have been saving them for many months, grabbing them whenever I can, but many times the file does not have the designers name attached. This gave me a real kick in the pants to get them in proper order by designer.

I have spent the last few days, searching through galleries, trying to put names with images. I was able to find many but still have a slew of unknowns. I'll find them...... it will take time. here are a few cards that I created using images that have designers.

The first card is made with a free image from Priscillastyles. She offered it up as a greeting to her new site. Isn't this butterfly elegant? My dp is from MAMBI nd K&Co. I added Prima's and punched leaves. My image was colored in Copics. I added a chipboard word, Stickles for sparkle, and gem as accents.

My next card is an adorable froggie from Meljen's Designs. His dinner is being dangled by a mouse with a stick. Too cute! This card uses papers from the Basic Grey Origins collection and paper ribbon from K&Co. I added paper flowers from MM and candy dot centers. This card was also colored with Copics and sponging was done with Kiwi Kiss form SU!

My last card is an image I had a hard time hunting down. It is from The Stamping Boutique. I originally found this on Splitcoast Stampers as a freebie. Phew, I went through all 136 pages of the Crafter's Digital gallery, figuring it would just have to be there. It wasn't. I just love it, and wanted to give proper credit. The papers I used are from the ATD, Family Affair collection. The sentiment is from Gina K. Designs. I used grosgrain ribbon and pearls as accents.

I hope you enjoy what I have made and that you will check out Crafters Digital Art Center!

CPS #170 Happy For You

What could make you happier than sunny yellow? That is what I was thinking when I attacked this sketch from Card Positioning System. I used the new set called Botanicals, from Gina K. Designs. I stamped the berry twig in Versamark and then sponged with SU! Crushed Curry. I added a repeat of the sentiment with ColorBox ink over top and then buffed. My papers are a double sided sheet from ATD paper pad called A Family Affair. I used different size SU! circle punches to create my scallop effect. Golden pearls were added as accents.
Finished my hot, yummy coffee now and I must get out the door for work. Have a great day!

Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge #1

I ran across this new sketch challenge today, while I was blog hopping. Waltzingmouse has a new challenge blog for us to play along on. I had some of the pieces for this card already laying on my desk, begging to be used. If you would like to check out this challenge,
please click here. The card stocks I used are all Pure Luxury form Gina K. Designs. They are the new Grass Green, Rocket Red, and Pure White. My white layer, is embossed with the new Tim Holtz Fade called Bricked. My center was created by layering a large MM red flower, with a section of a stamped medallion from Sweet Impression Stamps. It was stamped on vellum, colored on the reverse side with Copics, scratched to show texture and then cut out using a Pergamano tool. That is how the tattered edge is achieved. I used a scalloped circle punch from SU!, added a button threaded with twine that I colored with Copic. The circle sentiment is an unknown and the flag strip is from a Words To Go, takeout box from K&Co.

Expecting bad storms this afternoon, so I wanted to get this loaded. Hope you are having a crafty weekend!

Time To Post A Triple Play + One

Good Morning! My first card up is for the JUGs #35 challenge, to use dry embossing. I have made a manly card that uses one of my new Tim Holtz, Fades called cracked. My darling kids got the complete set for me as my Mother's Day gift, but the only catch was that I had to be patient because they were sent back to the manufacturer the first time by Tim cause he wanted them a certain way.
I used a charcoal card stock and then swiped the embossing with a white ColorBox pad. My image is a digi. The Dad part is a graffiti embellishment from Creative Imaginations. I added a grosgrain ribbon which had it's stripe colored with a Copic. My final accents are silver eyelets.
Next up, is this weeks entry for the Challenge#9, over at Off The Wall Craftiness. I am running a wee bit late with this one again this week. Thursday comes so quickly! Kim is giving away a set of Copics for this prize.I used the Sweet Birdsongs set from SU!. Punches are from MS. Gems are from K&Co. Ribbons are from American Craft. I colored with Copics and used #'s 0, C1, B00, B05, RV10, RV17, RV34, YR16. I am restocking my Anniversary supply!

Third and lastly for this post, is my Card for Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger. They have a gorgeous inspiration piece this week! My colors are Melon Mambo, Old Olive, and Tangerine Tango form SU!. Stamps are from Gina K. Designs, and include flowers from the Picture It set and Label and sentiment from designer Nina Brackett's Lovely Labels stamp sets. I used SU! and MS punches with orange gems from Michael's. I will also be entering this card into the Inspiration Challenge over at Stamp TV this week which is being hosted by Brenda Turner.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope to be back again later! Sorry if this is a really long post!

A Request From Hubby

My DH has a retirement party to attend this coming weekend, for a guy who has been with his company for a very long time. He asked me to create a card for him. The gentleman is moving to Florida, so I went with a tropical theme.
I just love this new set that I recently received from Mark's Finest Paper, called Tropical Vacation. They are actually having a challenge on their blog that is for silhouette cards that I will enter this in. It is half that so I am going to try it. I also used a technique that I am not super familiar with , which is direct ink to paper. I used some of my Dee Gruinig, Blending Blox in shades of turquoise, shades of orange, and shades of blue for the upper half of my card.I muddied up my ground with some chalk ink pads and then added touches of Copic markers to fill in and highlight areas. The front sentiment is from a set by Theresa Momber, called Hang In There. I repeated the birds on the inside circle and used sentiments from the SU set called Congrats!I hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend. We did a yard sale on Fri. & Sat. Phew, too much work. Then my DH made me a little fenced in veggie garden. I may post about this later when the plants start to grow a bit. For now, I just want to get back on track with my challenges. Have a great day!
